Pokémon GO Friend Limit 2026: 650 Friends
Niantic has raised the friend limit twice since the feature launched. In 2026 the cap sits at 650 friends per account — up from 400 in 2024 and the original 200.

In December 2025, Niantic added Forever Friends — a sixth friendship level unlocked after Best Friends. To reach it you must accumulate 90 additional Friendship Points with each existing Best Friend.
- You earn up to 1 point per day per friend through interactions (gift, trade, raid, battle)
- Weekly Challenges with friends grant up to 7 extra points per week
- Forever Friends is repeatable — every 90 points earns 1 Remote Trade

How many friends do you need for level 80?

Lucky Egg is still the main lever. To maximize with the new numbers:
- Stack 30+ friends about to hit Best Friends on the same day
- Activate the Lucky Egg
